NBC is staying in the James Spader business: it has renewed The Blacklist for a seventh season.
While hardly the juggernaut it was in the early years, The Blacklist is averaging a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.3 million viewers. But NBC likes to tout how the series is currently the No. 1 most upscale drama on broadcast TV among homes earning $100,000 or more.
Spader plays Raymond “Red” Reddington, a mastermind criminal who teams up with the FBI. The drama also stars Megan Boone as his daughter Liz Keen. This season, Red was sentenced to death for treasonous crimes. He’s currently holed up in the pokey, after failing to escape in the most recent episode.
The series also stars Diego Klattenhoff and Harry Lennix.
The Blacklist airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
