The Conners are coming back.
ABC has ordered a second season of The Conners, the spin-off of Roseanne that features everyone from the old show but Roseanne Barr. The comedy is about to wrap up the 2018-19 season as the most watched new sitcom with 9.5 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in adults 18-49. During its first season, the comedy also improved its time period by 33 percent in viewers and by 22 percent in the adult demo.
“We are proud to be continuing the story of the iconic Conners family,” said ABC Entertainment President Kerry Burke in a statement. “This team is fearless in their willingness to tackle contemporary issues with humor and heart, and I have no doubt they will continue to outdo themselves.”
The Conners, like Roseanne before it, focuses on a working class family dealing with typical issues like parenthood, divorce, and financial woes. It stars John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy and Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy.
New cast members are expected to be added.
This season also featured guest stars like Matthew Broderick, Juliette Lewis, Katey Sagal, Mary Steenburgen, Justin Long, Jay R. Ferguson and Sarah Chalke, among others.
