The stars of the live-action Kim Possible movie hope to honor the original show’s legacy

The animated Kim Possible series was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, becoming the first Disney Channel original series to last more than 65 episodes and spawning two animated television films. Needless to say, that’s a tough act to follow. But Sadie Stanley, who brings Kim to life in the upcoming live-action film adaptation premiering tonight on Disney Channel, didn’t approach the task lightly.

“I knew the responsibility that whoever got this role would be taking on,” Stanley told EW during a recent chat about the Kim Possible movie and the original show’s legacy.

Sean Giambrone, who plays Kim’s sidekick and best friend Ron Stoppable, echoed Stanley’s sentiments. “I tried as much as I could to just be as Ron as possible,” Giambrone said. “His comedy, his clumsiness, being a loyal friend to Kim Possible. That’s very clear in the animated series, so I wanted to carry that over to the movie.”
