Meghan Markle isn’t the only American princess out there! (I know, I know, she’s a duchess.)
Lifetime’s new series American Princess will explore the strange subculture of Renaissance fairs through the eyes of a New York socialite who catches her fiancé cheating on their wedding day and then runs away to an Elizabethan festival.
Created by Jamie Denbo and produced by Jenji Kohan (Orange Is the New Black) and Tara Herrmann, the show stars Australian newcomer Georgia Flood as Amanda, the Upper East Sider turned Renaissance princess.
The cast also includes Lucas Neff (Raising Hope, Downward Dog) as David, Amanda’s love interest and a fellow Ren fair actor who goes by the name Pizzle Humpsalot and performs Shakespearean parodies in the mud; Seana Kofoed as the fair’s Queen Elizabeth; Mary Hollis Inboden as “a free-spirited washer wench who becomes Amanda’s new best friend”; and Broadway all-star Rory O’Malley as the fair’s Shakespeare.

American Princess is slated to premiere June 2, so be sure to have your turkey legs ready to go.
