CBS renews Mom for two more seasons

Allison Janney could have a couple more Emmy nominations coming her way.

On Tuesday, CBS issued a two-season renewal to Mom, the sitcom fronted by Janney and Anna Faris. The Chuck Lorre-created series is currently in its sixth season.

“We’re exceptionally proud to have Mom on our air; a high-quality, signature comedy with characters viewers love, that also brings strength and stability to our lineup,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement. “Under Chuck Lorre’s extraordinary leadership and with his outstanding writing and production team, we look forward to having Mom on CBS for many years to come.”

The renewal comes as the show’s mother-daughter combo, Janney and Faris, have inked new contracts with Warner Bros. Television. Janney has been nominated for five Emmy Awards for her portrayal of recovering addict Bonnie Plunkett on Mom, winning twice.

Mom airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
