American Horror Story‘s Ryan Murphy reveals new Netflix series Hollywood

Ryan Murphy’s next series has a name, and it’s something he’s all-too-familiar with.

The show is called Hollywood and, as the American Horror Story architect described in a post on Instagram, it’s “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.”

With a straight-to-series order, Hollywood marks Murphy’s first Netflix original series to be produced by Netflix, though it will mark his third overall Netflix series. The Politician (with Ben Platt) and Ratched (his prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest with Sarah Paulson) will be released on the streaming platform but are produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Hollywood, co-created by Murphy’s Glee and Scream Queens partner Ian Brennan, will start production this summer as part of Murphy’s headline-grabbing move from Fox to Netflix. Additional information isn’t currently available at this time, but Murphy teased, “More to come…”

The series creator cemented a deal with Netflix, that began this past July, to the tune of $300,000,000, according to The New York Times.

“The history of this moment is not lost on me,” Murphy had said in a statement. “I am a gay kid from Indiana who moved to Hollywood in 1989 with $55 dollars in savings in my pocket, so the fact that my dreams have crystallized and come true in such a major way is emotional and overwhelming to me. I am awash in genuine appreciation for Ted Sarandos, Reed Hastings, and Cindy Holland at Netflix for believing in me and the future of my company which will continue to champion women, minorities, and LGBTQ heroes and heroines, and I am honored and grateful to continue my partnership with my friends and peers at Fox on our existing shows.”

Those existing projects include more seasons of AHS, one with Olympic hunk Gus Kenworthy, and another season of his historic LGBTQ drama Pose.
