The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is having a, well, you know the adjective kind of night, having just claimed its third trophy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, this one for Best TV Comedy Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed comedy had scored big at the Emmys this past fall, grabbing eight trophies, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, Mrs. Maisel unspools the story of a New York City housewife (Rachel Brosnahan) who pursues a career in stand-up in the late ’50s with the help of her manager (Alex Bornstein). Brosnahan won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series (Borstein was also nominated), and Shalhoub claimed victory in Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.
The series also stars Caroline Aaron, Marin Hinkle, Zachary Levi, Kevin Pollak, Tony Shalhoub, Brian Tarantina, and Michael Zegen. Season 2 of Mrs. Maisel was released Dec. 5. Amazon has already ordered a third season of the series, with production likely to commence in the spring.
Maisel was competing against Atlanta, Barry, GLOW, and The Kominsky Method.
