Mary Poppins would still be her same sparkly self in a post-Brexit reality, except with more ammo, according to a new spoof from Stephen Colbert.
With all the stuff going on with Brexit, The Late Show dropped the practically perfect British nanny into an apocalyptic reality in which London successfully seceded from the European Union and now zombies run amok.
“It’s every nanny for herself,” Colbert’s take on Mary declares before turning her magic umbrella into artillery. “Now let’s go fly a kite… in Hell!”
Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal, one meant to bring an orderly exit from the European Union with a 21-month transitional period to negotiate a free trade deal, was voted down in a historic defeat for a sitting government this week. So instead of Mary Poppins Returns, it’s Mary Poppins Post-Brexit and there’s a brand-new song, “Supercalifragilisticexpiali-Oh-S–!”
