On Friday, Celebrity Big Brother evicted its first houseguest, actor turned on-air host Jonathan Bennett. EW spoke to the 37-year-old, who is best known for his role in Mean Girls, about why he aligned with the women and what kind of bad blood he left behind in the house.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Every time the camera would focus in on you, you looked like you had just won $10 million. Were you in a constant state of shock in the house?JONATHAN BENNETT: Every second you live in that house, it’s like waking up on Christmas morning. You’re just so excited and so happy to be there and it’s such a crazy experience. It’s so fun. I’m so grateful to be part of that family, and to get to have the opportunity that only 200-plus people have had, to live in the Big Brother house. What a cool experience to tell my kids.
How long were you in the house?
10 days.
Why did you migrate to the gals first for an alliance? Why didn’t you consider the guys?
I was in the house for less than six hours before I had to form an alliance. That’s impossible to do because you don’t have a read on anyone. The reason I aligned with the girls is that they were the only three people who had uttered a word about gameplay. No one in the house had ever seen Big Brother or understands it. The gals were the only ones I felt had any understanding of how the game worked.
Did you know about the rift between Kandi and Tamar?
I had no clue about the rift. I didn’t even know who they were until I was in the house. I had never even heard of them. But I’m glad I met them.
Lolo was telling some of the guys in Friday’s episode that Kandi and Tamar were fighting and keeping them up almost every night.
There is a lot of tension and a lot of negative energy in that house right now. That’s what scares me. Just for the sake of them as humans, it concerns me because there is so much negative energy being thrown around that house and at the end of the day, it’s a game. We should be having fun. I felt like I was one of the few people in there who was there to have fun and not just concerned with winning. We are lucky people that we get to walk into those doors. The negative energy that is swirling around in the house is bad.
Were you aware that you and Ryan helped the women bond separately?
We knew they had formed a sub-alliance. Remember the only reason that Ryan joked around and talked about back-dooring Lolo is that she came and flicked us off on the memory wall. Lolo started it. We had a five-pack, I really felt it was solid. Lolo out of nowhere walks out of the bedroom and flicks us off.
When did you notice that the Mooch was gone before learning about the new twist?
We just thought he was in the diary room during his diary session. We had no clue. Like, literally no clue. It was amazing.
Were you given the sense that he would never come back?
When that video happened, he never walked back in the house. We had to pack up all of his clothes for him and everything. Crazy.
Who do you feel is moving under the radar?
Dina. I think she could win.
